Introduction

To quickly jump into What's the Difference be sure to have Quick Time installed. After extracting the contents of the kit you downloaded, run WTDPC if you have windows or WTDMac if you have a Mac.

The first thing you see is the introduction screen. Here, you can choose different modules but for now choose the first one labeled Planets and click "Edit Dataset". If you edit your own module, it will appear here.

This will bring you to a menu where you could edit the actual items being compared, a multiple choice question list, or a journal question.

For now click on "Click here to build the "What's the Difference" Application with the current dataset.

What's the Difference should now be ready to use.

To compare an item, choose a planet from the blue bar (pull down menu) and another from the yellow bar. (These can be found at the top of the menu. You can then select a topic of comparison from the red text on the bottom.

Instead of choosing the planets, you can create your own module.

  1. By choosing "create/edit files and attributes" you will see the input area for selecting And editing each of the categories and attributes within the "Planet dataset".
  2. "Continue" will take you to the main data input screen.
  3. Here you select a DOT from the Grid (each of the fields below the grid are currently shown, this will change in the final version)
  4. By selecting a dot you will notice that the "Category/Attribute being modified" has been changed to reflect your choice from the dot you selected.
  5. Now you can modify/edit the file relating to the Cat/Attrib above. You can enter a file name or simply choose your file by using the button. Here you enter your glossary words and definitions as well as ADA text.
  6. Upon entering each set of data you must use the STORE DATA button to store the data into the database.
  7. Once you have finished editing your data, you can return to the main menu using the button in the bottom right corner.
  8. To have the application build your What's the Difference program based on your data click on the green button.
  9. Once in the What's the Difference program you will see familiar navigation modified just slightly from before; category pull downs and attribute navigation. There are a few new features such as a rollover glossary, a dynamic journal, additional window capabilities and an assessment test. Currently the sound modification is disabled.
