Aeronauts 2000 - Aeronauts 2000 is an interactive learning project designed to develop web-based aerospace-related activities such that students will work on, improve, and enhance their math and science skills. EngineSIM — This useful jet engine software allows students to perform accurate design modeling and testing of an engine. FoilSim — This is an educational software package that was created at the NASA Glenn Research Center to instruct students in the basics of aerodynamics. The software contains two main parts, a baseball pitch and a wing-airflow simulator. . Target Grades: K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12. Gulf of Maine Aquarium — Space Available is unique in its use of information technology. The Web site is used by teachers in all 50 states and 50 foreign countries. The site takes visitors on a virtual trip through the bogs, beaches, and aquifers of Maine. Visitors can also use real-time satellite imagery to study the Gulf of Maine and compare it to other global aquatic environments. Target Grades: K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12. LDAPS - the Lego Data Acquisition and Prototyping System project—or LDAPS, for short—is dedicated to introducing engineering into K-14 education. By taking advantage of a child's tendency to build and create, LDAPS combines LEGO Dacta building blocks with engineering challenges into methodology as the project develops curricula and hardware and software extensions to enhance learning. NASA CONNECT — This award-winning series of, 30-minute instructional programs uses NASA projects, facilities, and researchers to enhance the teaching of elementary and middle school math and science. NASA CONNECT links math and science concepts and skills to the workplace, joins classrooms with NASA researchers, and supports national math and science standards. Target Grades: 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Off to a Flying Start — This young person’s project is where students can learn basic principles related to airplane design and the theory of flight. Qwhiz — This is a real-time, multi-player web game for math or science teachers and students. Teachers can use this Internet technology to evaluate student learning and fulfill instructional technology teaching requirements by making Qwhiz a regular part of student activities. ROVer Ranch is a place to learn about robotic engineering. You can learn about the development of robots, their elements and systems, and use a 3D VRML simulation to build and run your own robot. SOTIE — Southern Telescopes in Education will provide students access to science-grade telescopes in Chile and Australia in order to view and image the Southern Hemisphere from their classroom computers. TIE — Telescopes in Education currently offers students and online opportunity to operate and image from the science-grade telescope at Mt. Wilson in southern California.
