Important note: The producers of this CD wish you success in your pursuit of lifelong learning. Our work combines NASA content with emerging technologies to provide pilot efforts, experiments and concept tests. In the spirit of eNASA and public access, the following data is being made available to you at no cost. The information below is the best that was available at the time of production (May 2001).

Most of these projects are active and many have leveraged their initial funding to expand and enhance their offerings. Some are now funded by others, some have been completed or archived and others lead to dry wells or dead ends ...such is the nature of trial and error research. We present this information and these links intact for any educational activity you choose to pursue.

Everyday Classroom Tools - The goal of the Everyday Classroom Tools (ECT) project is to infuse the spirit of inquiry into every school subject, so that students and teachers can approach learning as a lifelong exploration of the world around us. Exploring the Environment — This project consists of Web-based learning modules that address real environmental dilemmas worldwide. From their computer, students are trained online to use "imaging" software to help them use NASA's view from space to observe biological, chemical, and geological changes over enormous portions of the Earth. FoilSim — This is an educational software package that was created at the NASA Glenn Research Center to instruct students in the basics of aerodynamics. The software contains two main parts, a baseball pitch and a wing-airflow simulator. Target Grades: K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12. Glenn Research Center Learning Technologies Project - NASA's Glenn Research Center, long a pioneer in scientific research and development for the US space agency, now brings its wealth of data to the Internet. Gulf of Maine Aquarium — Space Available is unique in its use of information technology. The Web site is used by teachers in all 50 states and 50 foreign countries. The site takes visitors on a virtual trip through the bogs, beaches, and aquifers of Maine. ILIAD - Internet Library Information Assembly Database is a tool that enables comprehensive material searches over the web. Results are returned in several ways including text or via e-mail. LDAPS - the Lego Data Acquisition and Prototyping System project—or LDAPS, for short—is dedicated to introducing engineering into K-14 education. By taking advantage of a child's tendency to build and create, LDAPS combines LEGO Dacta building blocks with engineering challenges into methodology as the project develops curricula and hardware and software extensions to enhance learning. Live From Earth and Mars - This project was intended to develop and disseminate educational materials based on real-time and retrospective atmospheric sciences and space sciences data and information in science categories for both Earth and Mars. NASA CONNECT — This award-winning series of, 30-minute instructional programs uses NASA projects, facilities, and researchers to enhance the teaching of elementary and middle school math and science. Off to a Flying Start — This young person’s project is where students can learn basic principles related to airplane design and the theory of flight. PASSPORT TO KNOWLEDGE — This Inter-Agency collaboration supported a series of electronic field trips to scientific frontiers: Live from Antarctica; Live from Antarctica 2; Live from the Hubble Space Telescope; Live from the Poles; Live from the Rainforest; Live from the Storm; Live from the Stratosphere; Live from the Sun and ; Live from a Black Hole. QUEST - Sharing is what NASA Quest is all about. Quest is a full suite of online resources that allows students to share in authentic NASA pursuits like flying the space shuttle, spacecraft exploration of distant planets, and space-based life sciences research. Or tune into web casts from the Learning Technologies Channel, a web site that lets you participate in online courses and remotely attend NASA workshops and seminars. Qwhiz — This is a real-time, multi-player web game for math or science teachers and students. Sharing Aeronautics Projects Electronically — SHAPE is an innovative program that uses aeronautics, always a favorite subject of students, to teach math and science. Virtually Hawaii - Virtually Hawaii was a large collection of satellite, aircraft, and ground images of Hawaii.
