Remote WEBcasting Technology

Target Grades:

General Interest / Research

Summary
Though the years NASA’s Learning Technologies Project has been developing methods in which to transmit live Video and Audio over the Internet from any location in the world. By using existing technologies we have been able to bring the outside world to the classroom. Through Satellites, ISDN, and Fast Ethernet connections there is always a way to get content to viewers.

Satellite Connectivity
Whether in the Arctic, the Mojave Desert, or even a small Island we have used satellites to connect and stream live video and audio to viewers anywhere in the world. We have used a small satellite system that creates a 64kbps connection to our landlines. This connection has been crucial in hard to reach areas and we continue to use this technology as it advances. Other Remote Broadcasting Technology

We have used other methods of connecting to the Internet including ISDN routers and modems to straight Ethernet portals. Getting the content to the viewers is something that has to be planned and organized properly for it to truly succeed. Our engineers and technicians have made that possible.
