AVIATION ACADEMY 2000
Target Grades:
9,10,11,12
The Wooddale Aviation Academy 2000 grant was a cooperative agreement with NASA to develop multimedia educational products related to aviation. It includes a repository for secondary curriculum materials, aeronautical information, technical reports, and photo stories which are still being developed by Aviation Technology and Travel & Tourism Optional School students and by the Aviation/Travel teachers at Wooddale High School, Memphis, TN.
Through Aviation Academy 2000s integrated thematic curricula, students received daily exposure to aeronautical principles while using the Internet, an exercise that enhances communication skills both verbally and electronically. The various courses are written to inspire minority, female, or otherwise under-represented student populations to seek careers in aeronautics. Aviation Academy 2000 also offers an extensive look at many aviation-related careers, such as aircraft engine maintenance, avionics, computer technology, aviation technology, travel and tourism, and marketing.
