Pluto Challenge: 1
1. Press the “0” key and then “G’ to
go to the sun.
2. Press the “End” to zoom out until you are about 90-150 AU away
from the sun.
3. Press “O” to show the orbits of the planets if they are not
already shown.
4. Right click and rotate the solar system so that you are looking at the
plane of the orbits of the planets from Mercury to Neptune edge on. They should
form almost a single line.
5. Observe the orbit of Pluto. What’s unusual?
Pluto’s orbit is elliptical and eccentric. In fact, its
orbit takes it closer to the sun than Neptune for 20 years.
