Weather updates, from North America to Neptune (and beyond). Incredible celestial images from the Hubble Space Telescope. Biographies of our neighbor planets. Stars maps, planetary mission results, and much more.
Now you can enjoy the views and news from space -- without ever leaving your computer, thanks to the Space Update CD-ROM.
Ideal for classrooms, Space Update is an interactive, real-time program that brings Earth and space science images to your screen. From CD-ROM format, Space Update attractively packages hundreds of images and movies, from both Earth and space science research, into a one-stop shop that's easily updated through simple Web downloads.

Space Update is divided into five easy-to-navigate modules, each with its own focus. The modules include:
Earth Today. This section is chock-full of images and movies of Earth's resources and weather, and everything is fully explained - what the images mean, what a typical weather event looks like. The popular "severe events" section, for instance, shows today's earthquakes as they occur around the globe, as well as the current hurricane tracking charts for both the Atlantic and Pacific.
Space Weather. Planning a stroll on Mars? Better dress warmly. In addition to describing what space weather is like, this module presents a variety of space weather-related facts on topics as diverse as auroras, magnetic fields, Sun wavelengths, and more.
Astronomy. This section contains the latest images sent home from the Hubble Space Telescope and other observatories, arranged by subject - e.g., stars and nebulae, clusters, galaxies. It also includes images of the night sky in all available wavelengths - microwave background, infrared, visible, ultraviolet, X-ray, and gamma ray - and new items can be added remotely any time.
Solar System. Now you can get the scoop on your favorite planet. Complete, detailed information about each of our heavenly neighbors is included in this module, along with recent results from planetary missions, planet-related research updates, and more. You can even get the latest info from the "life on Mars" discovery!
Sky Tonight. Perhaps one of the most attractive features of the Space Update CD-ROM, this dynamic, always-changing section presents the most exciting new discoveries of things to see in the night sky. Topics like Comets Shoemaker-Levy 9, Hyakutake, and Hale-Bopp come complete with images and finder charts, making your night sky viewing easy!
