You can travel to new heights with Aviation Academy 2000.
Coming at you from Wooddale High School in Memphis, Tennessee, Aviation Academy 2000 is a NASA-sponsored project that uses aviation’s diverse aspects to foster learning – particularly in the English, science, math, engineering and technology fields.
Through Aviation Academy 2000’s integrated thematic curricula, students receive daily exposure to aeronautical principles while using the Internet, an exercise that enhances communication skills both verbally and electronically.
The various courses are written to inspire minority, female, or otherwise under-represented student populations to seek careers in aeronautics. Aviation Academy 2000 also offers an extensive look at many aviation-related careers, such as aircraft engine maintenance, avionics, computer technology, aviation technology, travel and tourism, and marketing.
And it’s all located online at

From the Aviation Academy 2000 Repository homepage, students and educators can choose from six different aviation career categories, including:
Technology. This category includes courses titled Aviation (Careers) Orientation, Aviation Technology 1 and 2, Avionics/Computer Technology, and Airframes and Power Plants.
Travel. Students here are exposed to a world of exciting travel and tourism career opportunities, including an introduction to economics, marketing, and geography, and how these areas impact the travel industry.
Archive. See your favorite aviation pictures and stories here, including "How We Made the First Flight," by Wilbur Wright.
English. The aviation industry demands precise communication, and this section polishes that skill with several exercises. Learn the "flighty" language here.
Math. It takes mathematical skills to get planes to fly, and in this category you’ve got exercises in algebra, geometry, and physics.
Science. Feeling honorable? This section includes honors-level lessons in physics, physical science, biology, and chemistry.
The Wooddale Aviation Academy 2000 Repository is the result of a cooperative agreement between NASA and Wooddale High School that has developed a multimedia educational products repository for secondary curriculum materials, aeronautical information, technical reports, and photo stories. The material was developed by Aviation Technology and Travel & Tourism Optional School students and by the Aviation/Travel teachers at Wooddale High School in Memphis, Tennessee.
