ERC Feature Story

Now teachers can launch their exploration of Earth and space with the help of NASA professionals.

The Educator Resource Center at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center serves educators in the eleven northeastern states (Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont) and the District of Columbia.

Located at Goddard's Visitor Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, the Educator Resource Center is a place where educators can come and use NASA resources to develop their aerospace education programs. Here, educators research, gather ideas, and duplicate audiovisual materials.

Materials available at the resource laboratory reflect NASA's research and technology development and relate to such curricular areas as astronomy, Earth science, aeronautics, mathematics, physical science, and life science. Teachers in disciplines other than science and mathematics are encouraged to explore ways in which aerospace materials may be incorporated into their classroom lessons.

From the Educator Resource Center's Web site, located online at http://pao.gsfc.nasa.gov/gsfc/educ/trl/welcome.html, educators are provided an overview of what the center offers, including:

NASA established the Goddard Space Flight Center in 1959 as its first major laboratory devoted entirely to the exploration of Earth and space. The many exhibits and displays found in Goddard's Visitor Center and its Educator Resource Center highlight Goddard's contribution to America's space program, both its legendary past and its exciting future.
